The characters are delightful and their relationships just draw you in. I cannot wait for book 2 in February but before that this book, and any other by Rachel, is highly recommended. Great characters who feel like family, who become your friends and thankfully it looks like we've not seen the last of them. This is the perfect feel good read to enjoy tucked up under a blanket. - 5.0 out of 5 stars from Marian Chawner -- Truth, secrets and a chance for romance : Yet again Rachael has written an absolutely, absorbing, and memorable story. Her description of people , places, animals , smells and atmosphere , makes the reader feel part of the novel. Her imagination, use of words and knowledge of situations is phenomenal and so admirable. This is the first book in a series about a small highland fishing village. You almost smell the ozone, and hear the sea lapping against the Sandy shoreline. We have Rilli, returning to her childhood location where her father has passed away. It has fallen to her to clear out his rented cottage as the lease is up in the New Year. This is very emotional for her, but rekindling the past and rekindling friendships leads to making difficult decisions. Lachlan has inherited his father’s crumbling castle, where his sisters live or work, but has to find a crippling£ 200,000 death duties. Decisions have to made that will effect all. However romance is rekindled too. Secrets are learnt and told. Reality has to be faced. The story unfolds beautifully and enchants the reader, to a lovely rosy glow of satisfaction and intrigue. There are two more books so far in this series to order and enjoy, and I wait patiently as I’m sure they will be just as rewarding to read. ( Reviewed in the United Kingdom on October 31, 2021 )
